81st Annual Georgia NAACP State Convention and Civil Rights Conference Returns In-Person in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA – The Georgia State Conference of the NAACP is proud to announce the commencement of the 81st Annual Georgia State Conference and Civil Rights Conference, a monumental event taking place from Thursday, October 5th through Friday, October 7th, 2023. This historic gathering will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest at Galleria, located in the heart of Atlanta.

The significance of this year's conference cannot be overstated, as it represents the first in-person gathering since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Georgia NAACP and its dedicated members are eager to reconnect and reignite their commitment to the pursuit of civil rights, justice, and equality.

Attendees can expect a dynamic program featuring influential speakers in the field of Civil Rights, including Reverend Lee Franklin, National NAACP Training Director Terra Foster, Reverend Nelson B. Rivers, III, and Professor Cornell Brooks. These distinguished individuals will provide invaluable insights, share their experiences, and inspire attendees to continue the fight for justice.

The 81st Annual Georgia State Conference and Civil Rights Conference will focus on empowering and developing strong leaders in various critical areas, such as Social Justice, Health Equity, Housing Advocacy, and mobilization strategies for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election. With Georgia being home to the largest NAACP State Conference in the nation, the conference will also celebrate the remarkable growth in the number of local branches that are now fully committed to advancing the cause of civil rights.

The conference's opening session will be presided over by President Gerald Griggs, who will kick off the event at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 5th, in the Atlanta Marriott NW Room. Attorney Gerald Griggs expressed his unwavering determination, stating, "Some will tell you that we've done the impossible in the last year and a half, but I'm here to tell you that we are far from finished. That promise will be completed because of the work that we will continue at this conference. We have National, State, and Local leaders within this organization who will be present to continue to motivate our committed members and train them to reach the expectations set by our community. Let's continue to Thrive, Georgia!"

The 81st Annual Georgia State Conference and Civil Rights Conference is open to members of the Georgia NAACP and its various branches, as well as individuals who are passionate about supporting the cause of civil rights and justice.
