Georgia NAACP President Gerald Griggs joined the Family of Nygil Cullins to give back in Macon.

In the spirit of fostering community and generosity, Georgia NAACP President Gerald Griggs actively participated in the Second Annual Christmas Drive and Celebration of Nygil Cullins' Life in Macon, Georgia. This meaningful event not only embodies the essence of the holiday season but also highlights the profound impact that collaboration can have on local communities.

Tragically, in May 2022, Nygil Cullins, aged 22, lost his life in a distressing incident at the Fogo de Chao Brazilian steakhouse in Atlanta, where he was shot and killed by the police. Preliminary investigations revealed that Cullins, a former employee of the restaurant, was attempting to leave when a scuffle ensued after he was tackled by a security guard. The situation escalated, resulting in an Atlanta Police Department officer fatally shooting Cullins near the restaurant's entrance.

Despite the profound loss, Nygil Cullins' family has chosen to carry forward his legacy of generosity. Since his untimely death, they have continued to embody Nygil's giving spirit by actively contributing to communities across the State of Georgia. Nygil was known for his deep concern for others, dedicating his time to family and consistently serving his community with compassion and excellence.

Nygil's commitment to community welfare extended beyond his immediate surroundings. He actively participated in the Community Watch, serving the Lake Dow neighborhood until the time of his passing. Additionally, he frequently engaged in acts of kindness, such as providing food to the homeless, driven by a genuine desire to make a positive impact without seeking recognition. Nygil's empathetic nature led him to prioritize the well-being of those around him, even on his challenging days.

The Second Annual Christmas Drive stands as a testament to Nygil Cullins' enduring legacy. By continuing his tradition of giving and community impact, his family honors his memory and strives to be a beacon of light and hope in the communities they serve in Macon and throughout the State. As the pursuit of justice in Nygil's name persists, his family remains dedicated to realizing his dream of creating positive change and uplifting those in need, embodying the spirit of generosity and compassion that Nygil exemplified during his too-short life.
