Milledgeville, It's Time to Engage: Good Trouble Listening Tour Comes to Town July 17

The fight to protect voting rights never ends. Right now, we're watching a Jim-Crow-era playbook resurface — politicians and their billionaire backers working to restrict our freedoms, silence our voices, and consolidate power in the hands of the few. But this is America, and in America, the people choose their leaders. We will decide our future — not them.

The same spirit that carried marchers across the bridge in Selma, through the streets of Montgomery, and onto the steps of the Lincoln Memorial for the March on Washington still lives in us today. It lives in our unified action, in our refusal to back down, and in our commitment to finish what those who came before us started.
Six years after we lost Congressman John Lewis, we're bringing our community together right here in Milledgeville, Georgia to carry that torch forward — to honor his legacy and pass it on to the next generation. As Congressman Lewis himself put it, "Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic... Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."

"Milledgeville has its own place in Georgia's story, and this weekend we add another chapter," said Attorney Gerald A. Griggs. "John Lewis taught us that good trouble is patriotic. We're not here to tell anyone how to vote — we're here to make sure every person in this community can."
That's exactly what we intend to do. Join us.

Good Trouble Lives On is a non-partisan weekend of action. We require that all participants commit to not advocating for, endorsing, or opposing any political candidate or ballot initiative.

Nonviolent action is a core principle behind every Good Trouble Lives On event. We expect all participants to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at all times. Weapons of any kind — including those legally permitted — are not to be brought to these events.
