Call to Action: The Legal Community Must Stand with Emory Law Students
There are moments when silence is not an option. This is one of them.
Students at Emory University School of Law have recently been targeted by deeply troubling, racist communications. That is unacceptable—period. And as members of the legal community, we have both a professional and moral obligation to respond.

We are not just lawyers. We are officers of the court. We are guardians of justice. And with that comes a responsibility to stand up—publicly and unequivocally—for dignity, inclusion, and equal protection under the law.
That’s why we are calling on local attorneys to show up and stand together in support of these students.

This is about visibility. This is about unity. And this is about sending a clear message: racism, harassment, and intimidation have no place in our profession—or our community.
We are especially calling on Black attorneys, women attorneys, and LGBTQ+ attorneys to be present. These are the communities that were directly targeted, and their voices carry power in this moment.

But make no mistake—this call extends to all of us. Because when one group is targeted, the integrity of our entire system of justice is on the line.
Our presence will say to these students: you are not alone. And it will say to the world: the legal community stands for justice—every time.
If you can be there, be there. Stand up. Stand together.
